He wrot...Torment has the flavor of a Bergman film. He wrote it, is no doubt why. Woody Allen had others direct in his very early days his stuff. I enjoyed Torment tremendously. It works as school boy drama and as thriller. Sweden in 1944 during WW2 made Caligula an obvious Hitler stand-in. I saw the film for the fir...A brilliant commentary. I saw the film for the first time on TCM last night, caught it halfway through, having no idea what was going on. At the beginning of my viewing (with the young lovers parting), I assumed it was going to be a stereotypical murder mystery or "something." But as I continued watching, I was surprised and excited by how psychologically interesting and honest the film was. Yes!
